Elephant Festival celebrated in Sauraha, Nepal
Nepal has held an Elephant Festival in the central tourist town of Sauraha recently. The aim of the Elephant Festival is to raise public awareness① on decreasing② number of elephants in the country. The festival lasted five days. 127 elephants took part in the festival which was organized by Regional Hotel Association of Chitwan. There were various③ events, such as elephant race, calves football, elephant beauty contest, ox-cart and horse-cart races, among others during the festival. It also features cultural activities, jungle safaris④ and canoeing race.
The elephants are between 4 and 5 years old. Young ones are easier to train and run faster. They were trained for weeks for the games, taking time off their normal jobs carrying tourists through protected jungles near Chitwan. The conservation forest has rhinos, several species of deer and crocodiles and is a popular tourist spot some 106 miles (170 kilometres) south of the capital, Katmandu.

Shopping in England
We British are a country of compulsive⑤ shoppers. We love to shop! It is our number one leisure activity and accounts for around 37% of all money spent in England.
The main shopping street in many towns is called the High Street, where you should head for if you want to go shopping. A few small shops are owned by local people. Most are owned by national “chains” of stores. This makes many town centres look the same. Some towns also have street markets where fresh food and cheap goods can be bought. Away from the town centre, small “corner” shops provide groceries to local customers.
Peak shopping days are Saturdays and Sundays.
Shops are generally open on Bank Holidays. Bank Holidays are a great time to shop as there are many sales on especially around Easter and Christmas.
Shopping Hours
In England, most retail shops are generally open 6 or 7 days a week.
Typical opening times are:
Mondays—Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some shopping centres stay open until 8 p.m. or later.
Sunday： 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Sunday shopping has become popular in recent years and most large shops in towns are open for business. Shops are only allowed to trade for 6 hours on Sundays.
Large supermarkets are open for 24 hours except for Sundays. Many supermarkets and superstores otherwise open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on Sundays.

I want to be an English teacher when I grow up
When I was a child, I liked English very much, and now, I’m a teenager, I still love it. I think it is very interesting, so I want to be an English teacher when I grow up.
To make my dream come true, I will make full use of my rest time to learn English. And I will learn how to teach students and make them love English.
If I am an English teacher, I’ll make the students happy when they are studying English. I won’t let them think learning English is a boring thing. Instead, I’ll make my class full of laughter.
As we all know, “Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.” As long as I study hard, I believe I can be an English teacher who is popular with the students!

I want to be an SPCA officer when I grow up
Everyone has a dream, and so do I. My dream is not wonderful, but meaningful. It is to be an SPCA officer.
As we all know, nowadays more and more lovely animals become homeless because some people are so unkind that they don’t want to take care of their pets any longer, so they leave them in the street. What an SPCA officer needs to do is to look after the homeless animals. And that’s just what I want to do.
If I become an SPCA officer, I will feed the animals in the SPCA 3-4 times a day. I will take them out to play for relaxing. I will tell people who want to keep animals as their pets the things they should do and shouldn’t do. When the animals are sick, I will take them to the vets. The most important thing is that I will be friendly to every animal.
However, actions speak louder than words. Since I have decided to be an SPCA officer, I will study harder and harder to realize my dream. I will try to be friendly to every animal from now on. Last but not least, I will always believe in myself!

Seasons and weather in Britain
The weather is the subject English people always discuss. It often changes and brings cold weather or heat, sunshine or rain, frost or snow. In summer the sun shines, there’s no wind and there are no clouds in the sky. It’s blue and beautiful. People like walking and playing in the open air. They also go to the seaside to have a rest there. There are a lot of stars in the sky at night. The average temperature is about 25 degrees above zero. The days are long and it gets dark late.
When autumn comes, the days become shorter and cooler. The sky is often cloudy. Heavy clouds bring rain. When it rains we put on raincoats and open umbrellas. Then people say, “It’s raining cats and dogs!” A real Englishman usually has an umbrella on him. Some people get sick when the weather changes to worse and have to stay in bed. The temperature varies from +10 to +5 degrees.
Snow is very late in Britain. It usually snows in the north where the climate is mountainous. In the south snow melts very quickly in 2 or 3 hours. Children use this opportunity to play snowballs or go sledging. Winter is often windy and rainy like autumn. The average winter temperature is from + 5 to 0 degrees.
Spring brings sunshine and warmth. Trees and flowers blossom. Nature awakens from winter sleep. People usually say, “A nice day, isn’t it?” if the weather is fine. It’s a usual way to start a conversation.
The English weather is changeable. Sunshine can easily change to clouds or rain. But British people got used to such weather and don’t worry about it.
