高中英语学业水平考试 -- 完形填空
完形填空是一种全面测试基础语言知识和综合语言运用能力的题型,它要求学生在阅读短文并掌握短文内容的基础上,利用语篇知识和语言知识,从整体上去推导短文的“缺失”部分。
在高中英语学业水平考试中,完型填空占100分的30%,分值比以前的会考提高了10分,可以说其重要性有了很大的提升。要在完形填空中取得好成绩,就有必要了解试题特点,掌握一定的解题策略和技巧。
一、完形填空的命题特点:
《浙江省普通高中学业水平考试标准》对学考完型填空的描述为:一般选择长度在250个单词左右的短文,设空15个,满分30分。文体一般为记叙文,文章一般都有叙事后的主题提炼。
1、完型填空的考查内容
1)词法知识,考查学生在具体语境中词汇运用的能力。具体地说,学生要:①有一定的词汇积累,准确把握单词词义。②熟练掌握词语的用法及单词的搭配。
2)句法知识,考查学生在具体语境中综合运用句法的能力。学生要掌握:①英语句子的基本结构和句子的时态、语态、语气。②英语从句的类型和用法。③特殊句型 -- 强调句、省略句和倒装句等。
3)语篇知识,考查学生结合上下文,运用语篇知识,进行逻辑推理的能力。
2、完型填空的命题特点
1)试题选材 完型填空的命题侧重选择具有一定故事情节的记叙文或者具有一定哲理和现实教育意义的夹叙夹议或以记叙为主的议论文。所选短文结构严谨、层次分明、逻辑性强,篇章结构与语句结构变化丰富,内容注重不同领域、不同学科知识的相互渗透,与学生的学习、生活以及共同关注的社会热点问题息息相关,体现较强的时代性、思想性和人文性。另外,所选短文一般不出现生词,控制超纲词的数量。
2)首句不设空,提供完整的信息。完型填空是一种难度较大的题型。为了给考生理解文章奠定基础,使考生更容易理解文章内容,迅速进入主题,熟悉语境,命题时,首句一般都不设空,保持一个完整的句子。一般来说,考生通过细读完整的首句,可以初步判断短文的体裁,预测全文的大意和主旨,进而顺着作者的思路对下文内容进行合理的推测。
3)侧重考查实词,兼顾少量虚词。完型填空题在设空时,侧重考虑名词、动词、形容词、副词等实词,因为这些词语本身具有实际意义,在上下语境中对理解整篇短文大意起着关键作用。但是,为了尽可能地扩大考查知识的覆盖面,命题者在连词、介词等虚词方面也会设少量的题目,从而使整篇短文设题更加全面、科学和合理。
4)注重语境中上下文意思的前后关联。完型填空题在命题上始终注重的是上下文的语境因素。考虑到词语在上下文语境中的作用,命题者往往选择短文中制约着上下文义连贯的关键词语设为考点。
-- 从设空的答案由一个句子决定,还是由相邻不远的一组句子决定,还是由全篇综合决定看,设空分为:(1)句子层次;(2)句组层次;(3)全篇层次。设空的难度,从句子层次到句组层次,再到全篇层次,依次增加。一般说来,三个层次的设空比例各占三分之一左右。
-- 从设定的答案由上文决定,还是由下文决定,或是需要综合上下文而定看,设空也可分为:(1)前置性设空;(2)后置性设空;(3)全篇性设空。第一种信息提前提供给考生,容易把握,后两种信息推迟提供给考生,让他们读到下文才能获得,不容易把握,难度较大。
5)选项词类相同或属于同一范畴。命题者设计选项时,每个小题所设置的四个选项中词类相同或属于同一范畴。
6)突出语篇,极力避免纯粹语法题。命题者设计选项时,极力避免纯粹考查语法的现象出现。在4个备选项中,孤立地看对应挖空的句子,都能满足句子的要求,无论将哪个答案填进去,从语法上说都是正确的。要确定此题的正确答案,只能根据全文的内容和情节的发展,使所选答案能满足为文章中心内容服务的需要。
二、完型填空解题技巧
1、充满信心,沉着冷静
对完形填空心存恐惧,是导致失误的根本原因。有的同学尽管英语基础不错,但由于平时做练习时喜欢做单选题,怕做综合性较强的能力题(如完形填空、阅读理解等),在考试中遇到这类题目时就会感到压力大,信心不足,满脑子畏难思想,殊不知这种情绪只会使得自己的思想游离题外,根本无法进入思维,还谈何理解文章的内容呢?所以,集中思想、树立信心、沉着冷静、去除杂念才是做好完型填空题的保证。另外,做完形填空题要有耐心,不能急躁。20个空要一个一个地看、做,能做的先做,不能着急,以免失分。做完所有题目后,考生还应有个回首的过程,结合自己的选项,把全文再通读一篇,检查是否还有不妥当之处,以便加以纠正、改进。只有这样,答题时才能发挥出自己的最佳水平,减少失误。
2、通读全文,掌握大意
通读全文能获得更多的上下文提供的信息,并根据文章的内在逻辑意义、贯穿文章始终的主线以及作者行文的走向,把握文脉,调整并定位自己的解题思路,从而做出最终的判断。考生在答题时,不要急于看选项、找答案,应跳跃空格,快速浏览文章,抓住文章的中心思想。重点抓住对文章第一句和结尾的理解。因为完型填空题一般不给标题,一时难以把握文章的主题和大意,通常情况下,文章的第一句是观察全文的窗口,可以了解文章的背景和概况。尾句是文章的总结,有利于掌握文章的大意。
另外,通读浏览全文后就可联系上下文展开逻辑联想,准确把握词义、排除干扰项。通常情况下一篇完型填空必有几处答案难以确定,在推敲疑点时要紧扣文意情境,从上下文中寻找线索,务必使答案填入后句子的结构和意思都能上下连贯。
3、复读难段,寻求突破
完型填空的难题往往相对集中并具有很大关联性。其难点往往体现为复杂的句子结构,非谓语动词,复合句和生词的困扰。处理不好难段突不破这一环节,学生答题往往是一步理解失误,后续题目步步皆错。对难段应冷静处置,读到难处,不应贸然继续,应稍加调整,甚至掩卷而思,一则进一步理清作者行文思路,二则整合该部分文字内容,集中进行整体句法与词法分析。只有突破了难段,考生的思路才能豁然开朗,为完型填空题目得高分扫清障碍。此部分要求学生具有较为扎实的语法功底和较高的答题技巧。
4、关注搭配,提升效益
考生在做题过程中要考虑到有关的语义搭配、短语搭配,现在的搭配有四个选项,这四个选项安排都非常的精巧,跟上下文似乎都有联系,所以要仔细考虑它的语境和语意。词语变意也跟以前不一样,四个都可以插进去。但意思差别非常的微妙,所以需要根据上下文细心判断。面对该类型题目时,考生应力求做到胸有成竹,答题做到眼明手快,十拿九稳。这样不仅可以提高答题的准确率,而且可以节省答题时间,提高该类题目答题质量。
5、前后照应,查漏补缺
根据词不离句、句不离文的原则,运用词法、句法、语法,仔细推敲,选择答案。有些答案语法相似,一时无法选择正确答案,这时不要紧张,继续下文的阅读。有时考生会发现,上文的答案在下文中。而下文的答案在上文中也已有暗示。因此根据上下文的逻辑关系确定选项,实际上就是注意关联词、文章内容涉及的核心词及行文逻辑的线索词。进而,在进行逐空填补或回查补空时,一定要结合当时的语境,情境交融,才能找出严密准确而又符合要求的答案。在此基础之上。还应通读全文,对个别不太确定的题目还应兼顾并相信自己的语感。
6、复查核定,避免疏漏
做完题目后,要仔细复查核定。复查可以采用两种方法:一是不看已选的答案,再把所有的题目做一遍,然后看看两个答案是否一致,如不一致,再仔细比较鉴别;二是把答案代人短文细读一遍,看所选答案是否与短文整体相吻合。再把每个空白处与它相对应的4个答案一一对照。

这篇完型的36到39空难度较大,因为它们虽是后置性设空,但又不能在下文中找到明显的线索,只有在通读全文,仔细推敲一、二段所述全部内容的基础上,再结合常识才能做出合理正确的选择。
首先由下文讲述的作者自己在上学进校时多次被两个女孩欺负但又不能告诉妈妈这件事可以推断出36空A选项safe最佳,因为这是全文的中心和关键词。而由I felt grown up和常识倒推出39的proud和37的 finally。然后全面考虑一、二段所述内容再加常识,可以判断出38为D。
另外47题也有一定难度,这里不仅考查对故事的理解,还牵涉到对人物心态的把握,首先从全文中看不出作者I有什么过错,其次从下文My mother has been my guardian angel可以看出,母亲应该是hugged me,因为是我受了委屈,而母亲此时要表达的应是母爱和让我感到safe.

这篇完型题目难度较大。第一、文章本身有一定的难度,句子形式变化多,结构比较复杂,长句较多。第二、后置设空多。第三、有些选项容易受到母语的影响而误选。
31、32、33、34、35、37、39、41空都需要在了解下文信息的基础上才能做出有把握的选择。
31空只有读到36空后的the old leather container,才能确定答案为B。
32空则需要既考虑后面文意又注意搭配present sth to sb。
33空看似简单,但实际上也不容易选择,本希望在下文中找到线索,但读完全文也没找到多少信息,唯一有用的就是空后的warmly and thanked his student greatly for the sweet water,既然and之后是thanked his student greatly for the sweet water,那么根据故事情节和搭配,唯一能够达意的就是smiled.
35和39空只要遵循我们上面讲的做题技巧,先“快速通读全文,掌握短文主旨大意”, 就很容易找到答案B和D,否则在不了解下文的情况下,分析、推断、排除,既费时间和精力还容易误选drink,feeling和heart.
37空的关键是学生的问话, "Master, the water was foul. Why did you _38_ to like it?" 仔细推敲:“师父,水是臭的,你为什么要假装喜欢它?”,知道学生在质疑他的老师,所以选A。
41空的关键是要读懂空格所在段,理清作者想要表达的意思,理清思路,从下文is appreciation and expressed thankfulness because we love the _42_ within the gift可知此处应是自然而恰当的“反应、回应”。
总之,良好的阅读习惯和阅读方法是解决完型阅读障碍的关键,良好的阅读技巧和答题技能是一个长久的训练、体会、摸索并不断总结提升的过程,有了知识的储备,还须有良好的应试技能才能变知识为考试高分的现实效益。完型填空的答题技巧不是孤立的,而是一个有机的整体,在考试中,考生应注意综合运用以上各种方法。
