教材简介
北京师范大学出版社出版的小学教材《英语》是根据教育部颁发的义务教育阶段《英语课程标准(实验稿)》的精神,遵循英语学习的规律和儿童心理生理发展的要求,以小学生的生活经验和认知发展水平为基本出发点,循序渐进地设计课程,充分体现现代教学理念和素质教育思想,寓教于乐,寓学于做,强调学生在学习过程中的感悟,体验,实践参与以及思维能力的发展,在良好的语言环境中,融学习情感,学习能力和跨文化交际意识的形成于语言学习的全过程,力求体现素质教育思想。
教材编写原则
1. 在教材总体设计目标上,重兴趣,重成就感,重自信心的建立。
2.在教学方法上,重体验,重实践,重参与,重创造性思维的发展。
3.在语言教学内容上,重语感,重语音语调基础,重交际能力的培养。
教材特点
1. 突出对学生学习兴趣的培养。
根据学生的年龄特点和认知规律,在教材中选用了小学生喜爱的童话故事为每一单元的课文,其主人公社活泼可爱的小动物和与学习者年龄相仿的儿童,每一单元都围绕主要人物的故事展开。书中安排的课题活动以学生活动为主,采用听,说,唱,玩,演等活动形式,激发学生的参与感,保持学习兴趣。
2. 采用话题-功能-结构-任务相结合的编写思路。
话题的选择与小学生日常生活紧密联系,并注意语言功能于结构的有机结合,采用任务的活动设计,让学生在完成任务的过程中,运用语言,发展思维,发挥想象,动口动手,合作参与,在实际交流中发展交流的能力。
3. 在内容安排上注意由近及远,由表及里,由浅入深地逐步递进,同时提供丰富的情景设置,保证词汇的复现率。
4. 教学活动丰富生动,游戏故事贯穿始终,歌曲歌谣每个单元都有,使学习过程变得轻松愉快。每个单元都设计了学生自我评价项目,既体现出对传统测试形式的改革,又突出了以学生为主体的教学思想,有利于培养学生的自主意识和学习能力。
5. 科学地把握学习难度,适当控制词汇量。
6. 教材提供了许多选做的活动,使其充实而又有弹性。

Step 1. Warming up
1. Sing an English song .
2. Greeting and communicating with students in Classroom English.:

Step2. Presentation
1. Set the scene.
Have the children talk about what about what they did during the summer
Vacation.Ask questioons about where they went ,who they saw ,what they
did etc. Have they share their experience with each other .
2. Present the structure :“I was in Beijing .”Then ask the children the question,
“Where were you ?” Then ask a children in Chinese where he /she was in the summer vacation .Then say , “He/She was at home .”to other children .Repeat the process with several more children .
Step3 Get prepared
1. Ask children if they had any dream at night these days . Have them tall about their dreams with questions of “Where you in the dream ? What were you in the dream ? Do you like your dream ?”
2. Have the children open their books at page 2 and 3 .Tell them they are going to read about Ann’s dream .Dream .
3. Ask the children to look at the story and then have them describe what is illustrated in each each picture and what the main plot is .
4.Play the tape for the story . Have the children listen . Piont to the spaceship in picture 5 and say , “It’s a … Have the children complete the sentence .Repeat with the words astronaut ,Mars ,Martians .
Step4. Tell the story.
Have the children open their books at page 2 and 3.
Tell them Ann is talking about her dream she had last night
Ask these questions about the pictures.
Picture 1: Who had a dream ? ( Ann had a dream last night .)
Picture 2: Who were in her dream ?(She and Ken were in her dream .)
Picture 3: Where were they? (They were in the space .)
Picture 4: Where were they now ? ( They were on Mars .)
Picture 5: Was it cold on Mars ? (It was very cold on Mars .)
Picture 6: Were there Martians on Mars ?
Picture 7/8: Were the Martians friendly ?
Step5 Story
Listen to the tape ,let’s hear what the characters said .
Listen again ,look ,point and read after the tape .
Step 6. Extended activities
1. A charade game. Guess where the teacher is .
T: I had a dream last night. Imitate on the moon .Have the children
guess where you are .
Ss: You were on the moon .
Repeat the procedure with individual child .
2. Have the children choose a dream and make a Dream Book .
3. Tell the children to suppose that they were on Mars last night .Have them talk about their “experience” on Mars. Remind the children they can draw pictures or posters .
4. Have the children create their own image of Martians .

1. Say : “ I had a dream last night ,In my dream I was …”Elicit guessing from the children .until they the correct guess . Show the card to the children .
2. Then cotinue with other cards .
Step 4. Words to learn .
1. Open the books at page 4, point and say what they can see in the picture .
2. Now point to the spaceship and elicit the name “a spaceship” from them.
3. Look the words in the box . Check that the children get the correct meaning of each word .
4. Play the tape for the new words .Point to the words as it is mentioned in the tape .
5. Play the tape again, have the children repeat .

1 . Look at the bottom of the page 6.Explain that each of the pictures describes a different dream of Ann
2. Ask the children talk about Where Ann was or what she was in each dream usiing the sentences: She was a doctor ./ She was on Mars .
3. Listen and point the corresponding picture .

4. Play the tape again .write the sentence number in the box next to the matching picture .
5. Act as Ann .Talk about her dream .
Step 6 Talk together.
1. Review the structure Where were you ? I was at school yesterday .
Repeat the question and have individule child answer .
2. Turn to page 5 and look at the pictures.
3. Look at the two children in the picture .Explain that Sue and Peter are talking about where they were yesterday . Ask the children where they think Sue and Peter were yesterday .
4. Read the text below the picture on the left and answer the question . Elict, “Sue was at the park .” “Peter was at the movie theater .”
5. Repeat the dialog with the children in a role –play .Then change roles with the children .
6. Work in pairs .Encourage them to substitute the places shown in the right-hand picture.For example, Where was Ann yesterday ? She was at the swimming pool .
Step7 Listen and practice
1. Look at the pictures at the bottom of the page .Talk about them,then practice reading the sentences by themselves .
2. Find out the same sound in the first two sentences .Elicit the /ruh/sound from the children .
3. Play the tape . Stress or prolongthe /ruh /sound . Let the children repeat after .
4. Repeat with the other two sentences and emphasize the /luh /sound in them .
Step 8 Set homework .

2. Make sentences using the structure :

3. Point to the first picture and say ,In this picture ,Ann had a …”Elicit from the children Ann had a dream .Repeat with other pictures and highlight the sentences They were on Mars .They were in a spaceship .
4. Ask the children , “Where were you yesterday ?” Elicit from the children ,We were / was at school . We had /I had an English class .
5. Write the sentences on the board and have the children read each sentences.
