一、 教学目标
1. 知识目标：
通过保护濒危动物“大象”的语篇学习，让学生熟练掌握并正确使用以下词汇和常用表达：
Words: flag, place, water, danger, tree, save, cut, kill, Thailand, symbol, ivory.
Useful expressions；one of..., be in great danger, cut down, get lost, made of.
通过读写活动进一步巩固学生对目标语言的认知和理解。
2. 能力目标：
（1）让学生进一步整体阅读并选择最佳标题，意在培养学生快速阅读和归纳语篇中心的能力；
（2）通过整篇的阅读回答问题，培养学生回答问题的能力；
（3）其中渗透了构建思维导图（Mind map）的复述策略，帮助学生将抽象的零碎信息分类整理成与主题密切相关，又相对独立的块状知识，这不仅有助于学生深入理解语篇，抓住重要信息，而且能够增强学生的思维能力，提升注意力与记忆力，启发联想力和创造力；
（4）最后通过学生的笔头输出，培养了学生写的能力。
3. 情感目标：
通过对濒危动物“大象”的语篇学习，意在培养学生的动物保护意识和人文素养。
二、 教学重点、难点
1. Train the students’ reading and writing skills. (give them a “Retell” or an overall
meaning of each paragraph )
2. Structure: The elephant is one of Thailand’s symbols. Elephants are smart animals. But elephants are in great danger. We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory.
三、 教学过程
