随着新时代的到来,人与人之间的交流变得尤为重要,因此,我们必须学好英语。没有好的英语基础,你可能都找不到展现自己的舞台。外语教学,特别是英语教学成为现代中国学校教育的一个重要的项目,而语法教学是英语教学中一个重要的一环,语法是构建英语知识学习中的一个骨架。然而,语法似乎却受到了冷遇,很多学生也在语法学习中出现了各种问题。本文将简明的阐述这些问题,并对该问题进一步的分析和对问题的解决办法作出简要的阐释,最终来强调英语语法的重要性。

The Importance of English Grammar

As we enter a new millennium, the necesity of understanding and communicating with each other has become increasingly important ,so we must learn English. Without mastering it, we can no more find a place to settle in. Foreign language teaching, especially English teaching has become an important program and the grammar teaching is an important part of the English teaching, and the grammar is the bone of forming the English learning. However, the grammar seems to be treated coldly and students have different problems in grammar learning. The article shows and analyse briefly some problems in realizing the importance of English grammar and meanwhile gives concise solution of the problems, which eventually emphasizes the importance in present English grammar.

1. Introduction
In order to follow the step of globlization ,we Chinese students must learn English well.English is one of the most important language,It is now spreading into every country all the time .As a Chinese student ,we must be aware of the importance of English, and we must realize that we can not speak in stence if we only remember many many English words without master the applience of grammar.
1.1 the importance of English
Little or much, well or poorly, many of us today have learnt English.
But have you ever come up with a thought about asking why it is so important to learn English well?
This question sounds as simple as eating every day.
First of all, communicate with foreign people. It seems that all the people have agreed to use English to talk with each other.
Secondly, push careers forward. By putting "excellent knowledge of English" on your resume, I bet you would earn much money.
Furthermore, it’s necessary to learn English with China’s entry to WTO. That can make us know more about WTO and how to use the right in WTO to solve the trade problems.
Finally, By learning English we can enlarge our mental horizons and increase our knowledge because we shall have a better chance of reading a wide variety of books, newspapers, and magazines.
1.2 Comparing with other languages
Frankly speaking, English is not as beautiful as French, it does not have a deep history like Chinese, and it even spreads a bit less widely than Spanish.
Before we come to the reasons, let’s have a short look back the developing history of English.
When Julius Caesar landed in Britain over 20 centuries ago, there was no English on the earth. Five hundred years later, the so called ‘old English’, virtually incomprehensible to modern ears, was probably spoken by about as few people as currently a local dialect in Chinese countryside. Until the end of 16th century, English still only existed on an island nation in Atlantic Ocean.
And yet now look at it. English is more widely scattered, more widely spoken and written than any other language.
According to statistics, about 2 billion people, well over one-third of the world's population are routinely exposed to it.
There are some obvious reasons why English has taken off as fast as a skyrocket, such as the industrial revolution and British colonization across the globe. However, these are not enough.
It is generally believed that America is the most industrialized and modernized nation over past decades. Personally, the great America did the most contribution to the populace of English today.
Above all, as an international language, English does not only belong under American, British, Canadian, Australian nor New Zealander, it should belong to every person in any corner of the world.
Then, the last question: why don’t we learn English?
1.3 The importance of English grammar
Grammar learning occupys a vital position in English language learning. If the English vocabulary is compared to the bricks and tiles, then grammar will be the beams and frameworks, they both can be combined dexterously together to build strong houses. No solid beams and framework, no houses and the more bricks and tile Tablets is of no use.
Learning grammar well can guarantee that one can use skillfully language structure to express their ideas, write elegant articles, and can also ensure accuracy of language communication. English emphasizes language form, namely so-called hypotaxis, which is reflected in English grammar. English grammar is a reflection of English language culture. Solid grammar knowledge helps us learn, understand and study English culture, and help the inheritance of authentic language and culture.
Good grasp of English grammar is the responsibility and compulsory course of the students in English teaching major. The students must ensure their super grammar knowledge, ensure their the correctness of every sentence of them.
1.4 The current situation of English grammar
But in recent years, traditional English teaching and learning is thought to delay the students’ future and it unbalances the comprehensive language use of English in listening, speaking, reading, writing, translation, etc. Many students has become mute and deaf, and meanwhile, it deprives the students of the interest in learning English, which is held in contempt. Under these circumstance, a new revolution----the reform of the new curriculum English has taken place in education field, which is at the request of society development and modern education. It reflects the high responsibility of the government for the consumers------the students and the parents, and it is the new development of the thought of putting people first in the educational field and it is also the intensive reflection of the country and society’s emphasis on education and esteem of knowledge and talents.
English grammar teaching and learning has been important in the stage of junior high school. But its importance seems to be lost in the circumstance of new curriculum reform, followed by various new methods and theories of grammar teaching and learning, while these methods seem to neglect the importance of grammar teaching and learning in English learning.
2. The grammar problems of modern students
2.1 The weaker grammar ability of the junior students
According to the relative statistics and the contact with the students, I find that their listening and speaking ability in new curriculun reform has been raised, but their grammar ability seems to be weaker, and there are many quite serious grammar errors in what they said and wrote. The students from urban and rural areas have the same problems besides their own trouble. The urban students’ general listening and speaking ability is stronger than the rural ones’. Reversely, their grammatical ability is weaker.
2.2 The trouble in grammar of current college students
Similarly, many college students have their own grammar problems, and even in the major of English. In usual learning, our mutual exchange and cooperation make me find that 70% of them have many grammar mistakes in their classwork, composition and papers, and even some major ones, though their oral English sounds fluent. Such situation should catch our English teachers’ attention, and also as the college students majoring in English Education, we should have a good master of English grammar knowledge.
In current stage,many of us emphasize the guide thought of cultivating the students’ comprehensive language use ability for the purpose of language communication, but we aren’t able to neglect the importance of the grammar teaching and learning.
3. Analysis and solution of the problems
Since we have realized the importance of English Grammar, and we have found out that grammar if one of our weak point ,it is now time to manage all the problems,but before that we must analyse of them.
3.1 Analysis of the problems
The students have the grammar problems in English learning, which reflects the problems in current English grammar teaching and learning to a certain degree. There are many different reasons for these as follows:
First, the ignorance of the importance of English grammar
Second, the unbalance of teaching resources in different areas
Third, the differences of the regions
Fourth, the factors of the students themselves
3.2 The government’s necessary actions to be taken
A series of measures must be taken to solve the problems.
The government should provide a lot of funds for education field, set up necessary teaching resources and facilities, raise greatly the salary of the English teachers to attract a number of excellent high-quality teaching talents who would like to dedicate themselves to education, narrow the gap between the urban and rural English teaching and learning.
3.3 The requirements for the English teachers
Firstly, in the aspect of character quality, the English teachers should have the spirit of love and respect for the teaching profession, concentrate on teaching and research work, own the spirit of highly responsible for the students and the community, have the positive attitude to educate people proudly, regard that every student can learn the grammar well as motivaty, organize grammar teaching actively and enthusiastically, treat students like their own children, help them learn English grammar well to lay a solid foundation for the future learning of English language.
Secondly, the English teachers should have the spirit of teaching and learning scientific research. In the teaching process, it is necessary to constantly updated teaching concept, innovate and explore actively new teaching methods,models, textbook resources, boldly attempt to create new teaching scenarios such as interview, role play and so on, ?integrate theory with practice, combine entertainment, cooperation and knowledge in one, mobilize students’ enthusiasm and initiative and interest to participate in classroom activities in learning English grammar, promote interaction between teachers and students to teach and learn with the motive of communicative grammar teaching and learning, and attract the students from learning grammar knowledge to actively using it in language communication.
Then, grammar teaching models and methods should be with the teacher-led, to promote learning with teaching, to promote teaching with learning, to reach teacher-student interaction, get common progress between teaching and learning, proper and enough grammar knowledge should be impart. Taking into account most of the students, English language teachers in the classroom should speak predominantly in English, and of course, the teachers can also use body languages which help the students understand what the teachers said. if necessary, Chinese should be used to interpret, especially when teaching more complicated grammar structure. The teachers had better offer enough intensively accurate explanations for difficulty grammar points, meanwhile packing something interesting and followed by necessary intensive practice, under the circumstance of ensuring a certain language communication. English teachers should create certain proper classroom activities to attract the attention of students and guide students to find grammar rules and further master and use these rules well.
More still, And the English teachers should pay attention to encouragement, even though only in a casual expression in the teachers' eyes, an approachable word, the teachers can gain their ends to encourage the students. As I experienced, the proper encouragement can promote the students to learn hard. I remembered I was enlightened by my first English teacher when I was in junior one and I was weak in my English. The teacher’s encouragement inspired greatly me to learn hard English with a lot of interest and I made a quick and great progress and eventually topped in the class. So the teachers can hold some grammar contest in which the grammar rules and knowledge can be especially used fluently and correctly in language communication. meanwhile the winners should be awarded prizes to praised and encouraged appropriately.
Last but not least, the English teachers should attach great importance to the after-class feedback and come into more contact with their students whether in or after classes. It is useful to learn about the students’ opinions and listen to their suggestions and know about what and how they want to learn. In this way, the English teachers constantly sum up their experience and add the merits and reduce the weakness.
3.4 The requirements for the students
There are some steps the students should follow:
Step 1 : Make a plan. Try to get an overview of English grammar from a text book or online resource. Note the grammar points you need to work on and plan to work on each for at least a few day.
Step 2 : Identify common mistakes. People who speak the same language often make the same mistakes in English grammar. For example, many Russian speakers have trouble using "a" and "the" in English. Find out what grammar points are often difficult for speakers of your native language. Pay extra attention to learning those grammar points.
Step 3 : Find some grammar exercises. To learn English grammar well, you'll need to practice each grammar point until you can use it easily. Look for a book of grammar exercises that also has answers. Online activities and quizzes can also help. Focus on just one grammar point each time you study.
