When Socrates meets Confucius
In ancient times, on the view of education, there are two great men around the world can rival each other. One is Socrates, and another is Confucius. If they both chat with each other, what will happen? There seems to be no chance for Socrates to meet Confucius, however, their thoughts can cross the boundaries of time and space to meet each other. They may have a brief encounter feeling, although their educational methods are quite different.
Confucius preferred to teach his students to how to receive his ideas better; however, Socrates insisted that the students have their own ideas, though their ideas were far different from his. Confucius's teaching method developed a virtue that students should honor the teacher and respect his teaching, nevertheless, Socrates' teaching method cultivate a good ability to self reasoning and self-cognition. Thus, two different kinds of the education systems came into being.
The two methods are fit for two types of people. As for me, I prefer the latter one. Because I am badly lack of the self-study ability, and I think the disagreement between students does not mean that students do not respect their teachers. People's freedom of thought allows their minds to travel around the world without any physical limit. I strongly believe that different people and different ideas will collide and sparkle.
