Your system administrator has installed Endpoint Security Flex on your computer. Below are answers to some frequently asked questions.
What is Endpoint Security?
Endpoint Security Flex is security software that protects your computer against hackers, malicious e-mail attachments, and other Internet threats. If you use a laptop computer, Endpoint Security Flex protects that computer even when you’re working outside the office.
If you have been using Endpoint Security Agent, Endpoint Security Flex provides you with greater control over your computer’s security settings.
If you have been using ZoneAlarm products, Endpoint Security Flex enables your system administrator to dynamically update your security settings.
How does it work?
When you log on to your corporate network (whether remotely or locally), Endpoint Security Flex communicates with your company’s Endpoint Security server. This ensures your computer is using the security policy assigned to you by your systems administrator
Can I change my security settings?
Yes. Use the Check Point Endpoint Security Control Center to configure your personal firewall, program control, e-mail protection, and other settings.
Note, however, that your system administrator can also upload enterprise security settings to your desktop from a central server. This means you may not always be able to allow the Internet traffic you want to. Contact your systems administrator if you have questions about these enterprise security settings.
How do I choose my settings?
You can access the Check Point Endpoint Security Control Center, by right-clicking the Endpoint Security icon in the Windows System Tray. Use the following panels of the Check Point Endpoint Security Control Center to choose your settings:
§ Overview provides general program status, product information including licensing information, and personal preferences settings.
§ Firewall lets you allow or prevent access to your computer. Choose one security level for networks you know and trust, and another for any unknown networks or computers you may come in contact with.
§ VPN lets you connect to your organization’s network using a Virtual Private Network.
§ Program Control enables you to decide which programs on your computer can access the Internet or your local network.
§ Anti-virus/Anti-Spyware lets you turn anti-virus and anti-spyware scanning on or off.
§ E-mail Protection protects against email hijacking.
§ Privacy lets you control the use of cookies, advertisements, and mobile code on your computer. (Note this feature may be disabled by your administrator.)
§ Policies lets you seen what security policies Endpoint Security Flex is enforcing.
§ Alerts & Logs lets you control the display of alert pop-up messages and the logging of security events.
For help choosing your settings, see the Endpoint Security Flex online help.
What are the alerts I see on my screen?
The three most common types of alert are described below.
Server Message alerts tell you if you are out of compliance with security rules. Follow the help link in the alert for information that will help you become compliant.
Firewall alerts tell you that Endpoint Security Flex has blocked a communication that violates your personal or enterprise security settings. Click OK to close the alert box.
Program alerts ask you if you want to allow a program on your computer to access the Internet or local network, or to act as a server. They offer you a Yes or No choice.
The banner at the top of each alert box tells which policy generated the alert:
Enterprise Policy alerts are caused by restrictions defined by your system administrator.
Personal Policy alerts are caused by your personal security policy settings.
What are the buttons in the alert box for?
Most alerts contain an AlertAdvisor More Info button. Click this button to get more information about the nature and causes of the alert from AlertAdvisor.
Alerts may also contain a button customized by your system administrator. In the event that an alert prevents you from connecting to your organization’s network, click the customized button to be routed to a secure server where you can obtain information about what you need to do in order to comply with your organization’s software requirements and regain network access.
What are the icons in my Windows System Tray?

desktop.
Endpoint Security Flex is running.

Endpoint Security Flex is scanning your computer for viruses and/or spyware.
