A Visit to My Aunt
After the college Entrance Examination , I received a letter from my aunt and uncle in the countryside , who invited me to stay with them for a couple of weeks . They had just set up a new big house . The news brought me an exciting night.
The next morning I reached their home and I was kindly received by them . They had prepared a very nice and airy room for me . Just coming inside , on a small tidy table I found a vase of roses—my favorite flower . Standing by the window , my eyes were instantly caught by the beautiful scenery outside the window .
Every morning we took a walk in the neighboring hills , where we could enjoy the fresh air and sweet songs of the birds in the woods . We gathered wild flowers here and there . I found it great fun . In the afternoon I mostly spent my time reading or writing for I was shut in the house by the terrible heat outside . The evening was the only time we could go swimming together . I improved my swimming during those two weeks .
Though the two weeks passed quickly , the memory of the short interesting visit will last forever .

As for me , my favorite holiday is the Spring Festival , or the Chinese New Year . On the eve of the Spring Festival , the whole family gather around the dinner table to enjoy food and talk with each other . After dinner , the elder give the children money , with which they can buy whatever they want . During the Spring Festival , people visit their relatives and wish each other “Happy New Year” . Throughout the festival , everyone is much friendlier and kinder than at any other time of the year , and you can feel the world is filled with love . And since there is no school , children and young people play together , or they stay at home with their parents .
There is always a peaceful and happy atmosphere everywhere in the Chinese New Year . I like the traditional festival a lot , especially the Spring Festival of China .

How to Make Roads Safe?
Every year a lot of people are killed or injured in road accidents . That is mainly the result of people ignoring traffic rules . In order to avoid traffic accidents and make the roads safer , we should remember the following traffic rules:
·When you ride a bike , keep to the right side of the road .
·Don’t cross the road or turn left at a red traffic light .
·Don’t step on the yellow line while waiting for a traffic light changing into green .
·Give a hand signal if you want to turn or stop .
·Before crossing the road , stop and look both ways , right and left . If the road is clear , it is safe to cross . The correct way to cross is to walk quickly , but not to run . If you run across the road , you may fall .
·If you see small children or old people waiting to cross the road , it is a kind deed to help them cross safely . We should teach small children not to play on the roads .
