聊斋志异中狐女形象研究外文 Research on the Fox Woman Image in Liaozhai Zhiyi Abstract Liaozhai Zhiyi is a collection of supernatural stories created by Pu Songling in the Qing Dynasty. Among them, the image of the Fox Woman is one of the most controversial and fascinating figures. This paper aims to explore the Fox Woman image in Liaozhai Zhiyi from the perspectives of its origins, characteristics, and influences. It provides a comprehensive and insightful view of the Fox Woman, which contributes to a better understanding of the Chinese folk culture and the literary tradition in the Qing Dynasty. The Fox Woman is a recurring image in many of the stories, drawing much attention and sparking heated debates. The Fox Woman is a complex figure with a rich and varied folkloric background. In Chinese folklore, the fox is a shapeshifter, with the ability to transform into human beings. The image of the Fox Woman thus emerges in a unique position, representing both seductress and victim, human and animal, good and evil, and therefore deserving a more in-depth exploration from multiple perspectives. The Origins of the Fox Woman Image The depiction of the Fox Woman in Liaozhai Zhiyi is derived from the Chinese fox mythology that has a long history in China. The fox behaves both as a god and as a monster, and legends about foxes can be found in many Chinese classical texts. In ancient China, the fox was known for its cunning and treacherous nature, and was not often a positive figure.
