The Fairness of Talent Selection
The cartoon portrays a scene where a teacher, with a finger pointing to a tree not far behind herds of various animals, is saying that “To ensure a fair selection you all get the same test. You must all climb that tree.” The animals which symbolize students of different personalities stand and listen.
What the cartoon intends to convey is rather straightforward: the system of talent selection in today’s society is anything but fair, through it claims to be. We are brought up in a society where the selection standards are uniform; we are tested by a universal test paper for the sake of “fairness”. What’s more, when we step into the workplace, we are again exposed to the same situation: the same standard for evaluation and promotion.
In my view, true selection fairness is not about designing the same selection standard for all people, but about enabling everyone to exert his or her strength to the utmost. Therefore, it is urgent that reformation of the talent selection method should take place. Only in this way can more talents stand out.

Part Ⅳ Translation
The Yangko dance is a traditional Chinese folk dance created by farmers when they worked in the rice field hundreds of years ago. During the dance, the dancers sway their bodies according to certain rhythms and walk at an exaggerated pace to present old stories to the audience in a new style. Thanks to its jolly scene, abundant dance language, exuberant gestures, and vivid performing style, it is always favored by the Chinese. People will organize Yangko dance performances spontaneously whenever there is a grand festival. All the people there are concentrating on the scene, appreciating and sharing the feelings of the dancers, and forgetting the boring things in their lives.
难点注释：
1. 第一句翻译时注意抓住句子主干，即“秧歌是一种传统的中国民间舞蹈”，英语中定语习惯后置，尤其是比较长的定语，比如定语从句。“稻田”可译作rice field，“创作”即create。
2. 第二句的翻译不必拘泥于文字本身，注意承接前文。“扭秧歌时”直接译为during the dance即可，“扭动身体”可译作sway their bodies，“步伐夸张”主语承前，所以译为walk at an exaggerated pace。
3. 第三句中主语由4个并列的偏正结构构成，主语太长，不符合英语表达习惯；根据语意，我们可以判断主语部分是原因，因此将其处理为原因状语。“热闹的场面、丰富的舞蹈语言、兴高采烈的手势和生动的表演形式”可以分别译作jolly scene，abundant dance language，exuberant gestures和vivid performing style。
4. 最后一句中谓语较多，翻译成英语时如果几个动词并列使用，体现不出语言的逻辑关系，因此可以把“欣赏”和“全然忘记”处理成伴随状语，更能清楚地表现语言的活力。“重大节日”可以译为a grand festival；“聚精会神地观看演出”可以译作concentrate on the scene，或者be absorbed in the scene；“生活中的烦恼”可译成the boring things in their lives。
