Advantages and Disadvantages of Learning Online

Along with the accelerated development of computer science, innovative instructors at institutions worldwide have invented an up-to-date teaching mode--online learning. With the help of online learning, an increasing number of people can receive education of good quality via the Internet or local network.
Compared with traditional classroom learning, online learning is advantageous in the following aspects. Firstly, online courses provide an excellent method of course delivery unbound by time and location. Learners can have access to the courses they are interested in at any time and in any place once their computers have joined the net system. Secondly, online learning enables learners to take control of their own learning process, because the3' have autonomy to decide study pace and course materials, last but not least, online learning, in particular, is suitable and convenient for adults who are occupied with their jobs. Tanks to online learning, they can reeducate themselves and reach their academic as well as career goals.
Just as every coin has two sides, online learning also has its obvious disadvantages. For example, it cannot supply an authentic communicative environment. And besides, a considerable amount of information put up online sometimes confuses learners if they are incapable of telling between the good and the bad of learning materials.
As a fantastic method of transferring knowledge, online learning has broken the limited effect of distance and has made a revolutionary challenge to traditional school learning. Even though online learning has its own limitations, there is no doubt that it will make great contribution to the development of education.
