二．知识精讲
1.try to do sth 意为尽力做某事；trying doing sth 意思是试着做某事；try one’s best to sth意为竭尽全力做某事。
eg.He tries to make more money.他尽力多赚钱。
We are trying growing vegetables in water.我们正尝试在水里种植蔬菜。
2.They are about 10 feet long and they weigh about 1000 pounds.它们大约10英尺长，重约1000磅。
表示某物的长、宽、高、深、厚等，用主语+be+数词+单位+形容词（长宽、高、深、厚等）
eg.The river is about 800 kilometers long .这条河约800公里长。
Our classroom is 5 meters wide.我们的教室五米宽。
3.there used to be 表示过去有
eg.There used to be a park here.这里过去有个公园。
4.It is believed that人们相信，类似的还有：It is said that, It is reported that, It is well known.
5.be against sth/doing sth agains 为介词，后面接名词或动名词
eg.Many people are against building a supermarket in this place.很多人反对在这个地方建一个超市。
6..living 与 alive
Living 作形容词，意为活着的，可放在名词前做定语，修饰人或物，也可做表语。Eg.There are a lot of living things in nature.自然界有很多生物。
alive做形容词，意为活着的，在世的，一般用于人，不用于物，多做表语。Eg. When the doctor arrived ,the wounded person was still alive.
