Secondly, the color of The Forbidden City is red and yellow, showing splendor , grandeur and imperial power. The color of The Suzhou Gardens is white and black. Considering the damp and hot weather, the white main color can reflect light and keep cool. In addition, the white color can go well with the green plants. Thirdly, the style of The Forbidden City is solemn and strongly powerful, while The Suzhou Gardens is close to nature, soft and delicate. The last is decorations . The decorations of The Forbidden City are Dragon, cooking vessel, red-crowned crane and turtle. And the decorations of The Suzhou gardens are Hollow-out window, rockery, artificial lake, bridge.The other architectural differences between north and south are as following. The construction and design of north buildings more emphasize on the buildings thick or simple. Bricks and stones are usually peoples first choice, while the south buildings always emphasize on the ventilation .North buildings usually face the south. The buildings with courtyards and residences are usually decorated by the gate.The south buildings are usually built near the river or the mountain, most of which are made of wood or bamboo.
