A new library in Tianjin—Tianjin Binhai Public Library—recently became an online hit. The Daily Mail described it as “breathtaking”. One look at the library and you’ll see why. With its very futuristic design and walls loaded with books, it’s the dream library of every book lover. But there’s a burning question lying in the back of our minds: with physical bookstores closing down one by one, what makes libraries survive the wave of digitalization? Do we really still need libraries as we’ve got the internet in our hands? Reporter Ian Clark has the answer. “Libraries are not declining in importance. People are simply changing the way they use them,” he wrote on the Guardian website. Since not everyone can afford a smartphone, a tablet or an internet connection, and not everyone knows how to search the Internet correctly and efficiently, it’s public libraries that make sure that these resources are available to a larger group of people. And one of the pitfalls that come with online materials is that they’re not always reliable. “Google doesn’t tell you what you’re not getting, so people need to evaluate (评估) the quality of what they see on their screens,” Sarah Pritchard, dean of libraries at Northwestern University, told Northwestern Research Magazine. And libraries are usually where that “evaluation” happens. But we still need the physical space that a library provides. It’s something that’s called a “third place”, according to the Seattle Times. This is a place in which we can fully concentrate on our study and work without easily getting distracted. Compared to other “third places” like coffee shops, libraries have a “non-commercial nature” that allows you to relax completely. “Nobody is trying to sell you anything in the library. There is no pressure to buy and there is no judgment of your choices,” Anne Goulding, a professor at Victoria University in New Zealand, wrote on the Newsroom website. 8. Which may best describe Tianjin Binhai Public Library according to Para 1? A. Peaceful.    B. Impressive. C. Traditional.    D. Imaginary. 9. The underlined word “pitfall” in Para 4 is closest in meaning to “      ”. A. trap    B. secret C. adventure    D. evaluation 10. Why are physical libraries still needed in a digital age? A. They allow us to use the Internet freely. B. They are where we can buy things easily. C. They provide more information than the Internet. D. They give people space to concentrate on their study. 11. Which of the following can be the best title for this passage? A. A Digital Library in Tianjin B. A Library Available to Get Relaxed C. A Physical Library Living in the Digital Age D. Library Providing Reliable Materials B    9. A    10. D    11. The Daily Mail described it as “breathtaking”. With its very futuristic design and walls loaded with books, it’s the dream library of every book lover. And one of the pitfalls that come with online materials is that they’re not always reliable. 以及后面句的例子“Google doesn’t tell you what you’re not getting,可知此处是列举了网络资源的缺点之一是资源不可靠,所以pitfall 的意思是缺点,陷阱,所以A符合题意。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第5段This is a place in which we can fully concentrate on our study and work without easily getting distracted.可知实体图书馆是我们可以集中注意力而不分心的地方,所以D正确。 【11题详解】 标题题。通读全文可知文章介绍了天津的实体图书馆,所以A错误,B,D 文章没有提及,所以C正确,文章主要介绍了天津的“天津之眼”图书馆,并介绍了实体图书馆比网络图书馆的优势。 22. While many people agree that The Sound of Music(音乐之声)is one of the best films of all time, some are at a loss(困惑) to explain why. Well, I’ll tell you why it’s one of the best movies ever. The Sound of Music simply has everything one could want in a movie. First of all, it has a real romance--one where you can watch the characters slowly fall in love. Secondly, it has humor, clever and sarcastic(讽刺性的) humor. When Schraeder said, “ Bye, Maria, I’m sure you’ll make a fine nun(修女).” You just want to slap(掴) her across the face after hearing that. Thirdly, it’s got adventure. The Nazis are the worst “bad guys” in any movie, so it’s great to see Maria, the Captain and the kids outwit(智取) them. Fourthly, it’s got great music. The songs of the film are popular all over the world. Fifthly, it’s got great scenery. The plot(情节) and dialogue are also amazing. I find new things to admire each time I watch. Finally, is there a greater scene in any movie than the nuns showing the stolen Nazi car parts? In short, the film doesn’t just succeed because it cheers people up with a beautiful love story or songs. It also succeeds because it’s a wonderfully-constructed, wonderfully-written, and wonderfully-acted movie. 60. What’s the purpose of the passage?   A. To tell people what makes a good movie.   B. To tell people how to enjoy the humor in The Sound of Music.   C. To explain why The Sound of Music is one of the best movies.   D. To advise people to watch The Sound of Music 61. We can learn from the passage that _______.   A. in the author’s opinion, The Sound of Music succeeds mainly because of its songs   B. the author can find something new to enjoy every time he watches the movie   C. Maria just wants to slap Schraeder after hearing what she says to her.   D. The Sound of Music is a movie about how Maria outwits the Nazis with the nuns 62. About the The Sound of Music, the author mentioned all of the following things EXCEPT___       A. plot          B. music       C. acting        D. clothing 63. What’s the meaning of the underlined word “character” ? A. 特征         B. 性格        C. 人物         D. 汉字 参考答案:
