I happened to be a few feet from him and heard what he had said, but I went up to him and tapped him on shoulder. "We are not alone; I'm your friend," I said. Unfortunately, the boy didn't recognize me at first. It took him a while to figure out of that I was his teammate. One day, I saw a boy, one          interesting                           fun I had previous known from one of my basketball teams. Stood by himself, he said, "I'm all     previously                                 Standing alone." I happened to be a few feet from him and heard what he had said, but I went up                                                            and或so to him and tapped him on ∧ shoulder. "We are not alone; I'm your friend," I said.                       The         You Unfortunately, he boy didn't recognize me at first. It took him a while to figure out of that   I was his teammate. Since then, though, we had hung out and become good friends. 20. 短文改错 (共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分)   One and a half years ago,I visited London for the first time. I stay there for three weeks, and  I had many good impression. This week is National Volunteer Week, a time for the Canadian Red Cross to recognize our dedicated (献身的) volunteers who devote their time and talents from coast to coast. Over the course of the week we will use this blog to share stories about our volunteers and the amazing work they do — a small part of the outstanding individuals across the country. Take Saskatchewan for example. Last year that province was hit by wide-spread flooding, a hurricane and forest fires. Canadian Red Cross staff and volunteers went to work right away and helped more than 2,100 adults and 775 children recover the basic necessities of life. It’s important to share stories from volunteers to truly appreciate what they do. Christine Hoffman is a Disaster Response Volunteer in the Canadian Red Cross in Saskatchewan. She’s a veteran Red Crosser for about 16 years. Still nothing could have prepared her for the call she took in the Recovery Centre last year in response to flooding in Maple Creek. This story is best told in her own words. This is what she said: “I will never forget the first phone call I took in the Recovery Centre. A young man called asking what services Red Cross was offering in town. As we were talking, he told me he had a rope in his backyard but he thought he would be using it for other reasons. My heart stopped. I told him to come to see us so we could work together on a plan to improve his situation. He came in a little while later. Nearly two hours later he left standing straight up with tear-filled eyes. He thanked me for convincing him to come in. His home had been destroyed, but together we put together a plan and he was eventually able to move back into his own home.” During National Volunteer Week 2011, let’s thank Christine, and the many other volunteers like her. Thanks for making us proud! 43. According to the second paragraph, Canadian Red Cross’ action is _____. A. slow B. quick C. helpless D. disappointing 44. What can we infer from what Christine Hoffman said? A. The young man felt sad for Christine Hoffman because of her poor experience. B. The young man was persuaded by Christine Hoffman and decided to live on. C. Christine Hoffman made the young man sad and he cried. D. Christine Hoffman offered to give the young man a little money to help him. 45. Which of the following is closest in meaning to the underlined word “veteran” in the third paragraph? A. Careless. B. Experienced. C. Unskillful. D. Optimistic. 46. What is the text mainly about? A. How to become a volunteer. B. An excellent volunteer and her family. C. Volunteers and their amazing work. D. What the Canadian Red Cross does. 参考答案: BBBC 22. Old-Fashioned Play—For Pay        Kids! Come to have a ball! Or 60,000 of them! There’s a new type of business franchise(特许商店) that is appearing in shopping malls and neighborhoods across America offering pay-per-use indoor playgrounds, feature toys, games ,supervised fun and a workout that doesn’t break the family bank.        As public playgrounds grow increasingly worn and dirty, the for-profit centers offer clean, safe supervised activities as well as a variety of challenging exercises to develop youngsters’ physical fitness, usually for a fee of around 5$ an hour. “Playgrounds are dirty and not supervised,” says Dick Guggenheimer, owner of the two-month-old Discovery Zone in Yonkers, N.Y., part of Kansas City-based chain, “We are indoors; we are padded(铺上软垫); parents can feel their child is safe”.        In order to satisfy the need of two-earner families, the new franchise stayed open in the evenings, long after traditional public playgrounds have grown dark and unusable. However, these new playgrounds are not meant to be day-care centers. Parents are expected to stay and play with their kids rather than drop them off. But several also provide high-tech baby-sitting services. At some of the Discovery Zones, parents can register their children in special supervised programs, then leave them and slip away for a couple of hours to enjoy a movie or dinner. If there is a problem, Mom and Dad are called.        The most fun of all, though, is getting to do what parents used to do in the days before two-earner families and two-hour commutes; play with their kids. That, at least, is old-fashioned, even at per-hour rates.   60. What is this article mainly talking about? A. The fast development of Discovery Zone. B. A new type of business franchise for kids. C. The disadvantages of outdoor playgrounds. D. Children can play in the public playgrounds without parents’ care. 61. According to the article, which of the following is true to the new playground? A. It’s a place where parents can play together with their kids. B. It stayed open in the evening just as traditional playgrounds. C. It doesn’t allow parents to leave their kids. D. The cost is high for a family. 62. What does the writer mean by saying “old-fashioned”? A. The so-called new playground is outdated. B. The new playground is actually enjoyed by parents. C. The new playground offers a fashion which was popular in the past. D. The new playground is also enjoyed by old people. 63. What is the writer’s attitude toward the new playground? A. Indifferent          B. Agreeable              C. Objective      D. Doubtful   参考答案: 略
