Step 1. Warm-up Free talk: Can you name some famous playwrights? Who are they? What kind of plays do you like? Why? Step 2. Presentation 1. Introduce the playwrights and their plays. 2. Explain the new words. 3. Listen and answer the question. Where did Danny want to go to watch Teahouse? 4. Check the answer. 5. Read the lesson and write true (T) or false (F). (1) William Shakespeare is a world-famous playwright. (2) Shakespeare’s works are all comedies and historical pieces. (3）Hamlet is a famous comedy. (4) Teahouse was written by Lao She. (5) Cao Yu wrote the play Thunderstorm. (6) In Lao She Teahouse Theatre, you can drink tea while enjoying a play. 6. Check the answers. 7. Explain the language points: Guess what? 猜猜怎么回事？ Can’t/ cannot wait 的意思是“迫不及待”。 She can’t wait to see her Chinese teacher. 她迫不及待地想见到她的语文老师。 We can’t wait for tomorrow. 我们等不到明天了。 in order to 意思是“为了……”。 Mike got up early to/in order to/so as to catch the first bus. 麦克早起为了赶上第一趟公共汽车。 He jumped about in order to keep warm. 他来回走动是为了让身体暖和。 on stage 的意思是“在（舞）台上；当众”。 We will put a play on stage tomorrow. 我们明天要上演一出戏。 on the stage 的意思是“当演员；登台演出”。 She began to get/be on the stage when she was thirteen years old. 她十三岁时开始当演员。 do 的用法 (1) 实义do The man does sport every day. 那个男人每天都做运动。 She does her homework at home every day. 她每天在家写作业。 (2) 助动do How many books does the classroom have? 教室里有多少本书？ (3) 替代do Tom jumps much higher than you do. 汤姆比你跳得高。 -Who broke the cup? -Lily did. (4) 语气do Do be careful. 小心。 She did come. 她来了。 Step 3. Practice 1. Listen and follow to the tape. 2. Match each play with its playwright on page 91. You can search the Internet for help. 3. Check the answers. 4. Choose one of the above plays and complete the table on page 91. 5. Check the answers. Step 4. Consolidation 1. Discuss your favourite play or playwright with your partner.. 2.
