Greeting and introduction
Teaching Steps:
Step One: Greeting
1.Greet the students
Say “Hi” to the students,and give a self-introduction to the students, check the classroom clean, check students name card.
2.Call the roll
Greet the students to introduce themselves by using the following expressions:
Hello, my name is… I am…
Good morning, I am… I am 20 years/ 18 years old.
Step Two: Lead-in(Give a brief introduction about this subject and the book )
As the students are freshmen,we need stress on the importance of learning English,and encourage them to learn it carefully, read more and speak out.
There are thirty-five units in this book, and we will learn it as twelve parts, It covers common daily activities. Tell students the teaching plan of the subject.
How to learn this subject?
(Get ss to answer, then give a conclusion)
Step Three Presentation
1.Show the students some photos of first meet in foreign country,such as hug,shake hands,try to arouse the students’ interest in learning English and let them understand the different custom in different countries.
2.Ask and answer
① How to greet when you meet a person for the first time?
② How to introduce yourself?
3.Useful expressions:
Nice to meet you.
Pleased to meet you.
Glad to meet you.

Step four: Read and Learn
1.New words and phrases:

see 看见,看 again 又,再一次

2.Useful sentences
Good morning\morning. 早上好!

How are you doing? 是非正式日常寒暄用于,美国人喜欢这样表达。
Long time no see. 好久不见
How’s everything going? 一切都好吗?
How are you getting on with your work? 工作情况怎么样?
You haven’t changed much. 你没怎么变。
How’s your family? 家里怎么样?
How was your day? 今天过得好吗?
Same as usual. 和平时一样。

3.Teach the three conversions in Unit one to the students and ask them to follow the teacher to read.
Step five: Role-Play
Ask the students to work in pairs,stand on the platform to act as the first meet,make a conversion.And then ask other students to say their advantage and disadvantages.
Step six: Summary and Homework
1. Summary
Sum up the different ways of greetings between the people never meet and old friends. Repeat the useful expressions when people make a greeting.
2. Homework
Ask the students to write a self-introduction in English.
