13、Recently, China Dream has been the subject of a public topic. Although it is quite common for Chinese people to dream of a developed China, most people also have their own dreams. I interviewed several young Chinese students with higher US educational backgrounds. They all had their own dreams for their native country.
Fred Wang, an MBA student in the US, said, “I dream of equal chance for the young in China. Equality means all young people can compete fairly, based on the rule-of-law no matter whether they are rich or poor.”
Yujie Zhao, another MBA student in California, said, “I dream of having the best education for my children so they will not lose at the starting line, and I dream of being able to take good care of my parents after they return home from work.”
Yiqiong Zhang, an MBA graduate from the US, shared her dreams. “I have a dream which I have been holding for many years, that is after working hard for about 20 to 25 years, I can have enough money to build and manage a bookstore or a flower shop. Besides working hard, I am able to enjoy life, to play the piano, to hike and to enjoy a two-month-long vacation every year. This may be a common dream among young Chinese students.”
There is no doubt that all of these young students have their own China Dream. They all love chasing their dreams. The beautiful China Dream requires everyone’s hard work. Everyone should work hard to make their dreams come true.

14、“Joe, did you book your ticket yet?” I asked. “No. I changed my mind. I’m not going to go.”“What? You aren’t going to Australia? We’ve been planning this vacation for months!”“Yeah, I don’t feel like it. We’ll go some other time.”
Over the coming weeks, I tried to get my friend to reconsider, but failed. Our trip to Australia was off. And none of my friends wanted to replace him. If I wanted to travel, it would have to be on my own.
It’s taught me that if I wait for others, I’ll never go anywhere. But there are places I want to visit, people to see, experiences to have, and food to try—and only so much time to achieve it all. So I refuse to wait. I won’t let others keep me from realizing my dreams. It can be scary travelling alone, especially then you’ve never done it before. But, to me, growing old without experiencing everything you want from life is more frightening.
If you’re been putting off a trip because you’re waiting for someone to go with—stop. Just go. Don’t let others hold you back from your dreams. Trust me, along the way you’ll make plenty of friends. More than that, travelling alone gives you real freedom. You wake up and it’s just you—what you want, where you want, when you want. In that freedom and great space of possibility, you meet yourself.
It’s sink or swim and you have to learn how to survive—who to trust, how to make friends, how to find your way around alone. That’s the greatest reward(奖赏) of travelling alone. Each time you go away, you learn to become a little more independent and confident.
Travelling alone is not for everyone. Some people return home soon after starting off, some cry for weeks before accepting it, and others just accept it right away. But you’ll never learn that if you don’t travel once by yourself. Whether a weekend away, a two-week vacation, or a trip around the world, try it at least once.
1.What does the writer think is more frightening?
A.Travelling alone for the first time.
B.Changing your mind all the time.
C.Waiting for others during a long trip.
D.Failing to experience life in your growth.

A.the experience of travelling
B.the freedom to go anywhere
C.the chance to taste delicious food
D.the possibility of meeting new people
4.The passage is mainly about__________.
A.where to travel B.when to travel

15、I remember the exact moment I learned the principle(原则) of preparing for luck.
I was on the wrestling(摔跤) team, Now, if there’s one thing I can tell you about any sport, it is that wresting is probably the sport that has the least luck. There are only two people out on the mat(垫子), so you cannot blame(指责) it on your teammates or your coach(教练). And guess what? There is no weather because we do the whole thing indoors, so you can’t say, “It was raining” or “It was snowing.” So we should say wrestling is the sport with the least luck.
On our team there were two world champions; one of them had been a world champion five times. We also had five people who were national champions. One of them was a guy by the name of John.
John had never been beaten in any high school wrestling competition that I could remember, as he was a national champion. There was nobody local who could touch him.
One day, we went for a match with our biggest opponent(对手). John went out on the mat, and about a minute and 30 seconds into the match he tried to make a special move. He rolled over, and his opponent caught him halfway through his roll. He was pinned(压住)! The match was over.
I remember on the way home, one of our teammates tried to comfort John by saying, “Oh, he just got lucky.” And John said, “That’s so silly. The opportunity presented itself, and he just took advantage it.”
We used to have this big sign in our wrestling room that the coach had put there. “Luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation.”
John’s opponent was prepared to make use of this opportunity. The possibility of beating John was not strong and he knew it. But he waited for the right opportunity, and he defeated and pinned a national champion.
In other words, the real message is “Be prepared!” It’s not just finding the opportunity, you have to be prepared to take it.

A.a leader of the wrestling team
B.a person working for the wrestling team

A.Because John was beaten easily
B.Because John’s opponent was much stronger than him
C.Because John looked very unhappy after the match
D.Because failure is the mother of success
4.From this passage, we can infer that ________
A.John’s opponent had more luck than him
B.wrestling is an outdoor sport
C.wrestling is the sport with the most luck
D.John didn’t prepare so well as his opponent

18、Whenever there's a terrible storm, there are plenty of sad stories. Many people lost their houses, their cars and their pets. But sometimes these stories have happy endings too.
A family in New Jersey, US, had a cat named Vivien. She is very smart. She could even draw with her wet paws on the floor. They all love her very much. When hurricane (飓风) Sandy hit America in October, they moved to a safer place-13km away from home. Sadly Vivien went missing. The whole family were worried about her. They put up posters on the Internet to look for her. All the nine family members searched wherever they thought she could stay, but they didn't find it. The family thought Vivien was gone forever.
But six months later, Vivien showed up at their house, according to Yahoo News. They considered her return as a wonder. No one can be sure where Vivien was for all that time.
Many animals are good at finding their way home. People usually say that
