21.(6分)On Friday, Germany' s telecom regulator(电信业管理者), the Federal Network Agency, announced that a number of children s smartwatches, designed for ages 5 to 12, can allow someone to remotely tap into the watch s microphone and secretly spy from remote places. The regulator isn’t just worried about the potential of people spying on children-it's worried the devices(设备) can be used to spy on anyone.
And in Germany, it's illegal to record private conversations without permission. "According to our investigations, parents were using the watches, for example, to listen in on their children during class, said Federal Network Agency President Jochen Homann in a statement.
Smartwatches that make phone calls, like the Apple Watch, are legal in Germany. The problem with many of the children's smartwatches, however, is that the devices have a classic spying function, similar to a baby monitor, which can be easily activated (激活) just by using an app.
The German regulator is so serious about destroying these devices. it's asking citizens to document the watches' destruction and file evidence online. Once the watches are destroyed, the regulator will provide a "certificate of destruction, " confirming the deed was done.
This isn't the first time the Federal Network Agency told German citizens to destroy a consumer device. The regulator once prohibited the doll "My Friend Cayla", which was fitted with radio transforming technology that could allow children to be spied on.
Remind tech producers: The German government won't just ban devices that can spy on anyone, they'll demand the devices be destroyed with hammers (or whatever means of destruction one prefers) — even if they're dolls.
1、Why is the Federal Network Agency concerned about children’s smartwatches?
A.They are too expensive to afford.
B.They can't be used in remote places.
C.They are harmful to children 's health.
D.They can be used to watch anyone in secret.
2、How can a smartwatch spying function be performed?
A.By using an app.
B.By using a baby monitor.
C.By fixing a device.
D.By downloading software.
3、What will citizens get after destroying the watches?
A.A document.
B.A doll.
C.A certificate.
D.A prize.
4、What can we infer about the German government’s attitude to children’s smartwatches?
A.Doubtful.
B.Supportive.
C.Acceptable.
D.Unbearable.
22.(8分)Our success, satisfaction and general happiness in life is not dependent on what happens to us but how we deal with it.
You will probably know from personal experience what a difference your attitude can make when, for example, you’re returning faulty goods or making a complaint. An open, polite and friendly approach, expecting a satisfactory result, normally results in one as people tend to respond with a similar attitude. If, however, you present an argument with an angry, accusing tone, expecting trouble, there is little doubt that this is what you’ll get!
Some people see the world through a filter of optimism and some through a filter of pessimism (悲观) which largely comes down to having a positive or negative (消极的) attitude. People who are suffering from a negative attitude primarily think that something can’t be done; they talk about problems, see all the difficulties, find fault with and criticize other people and focus on all the things they would like but haven’t got. On the contrary, people blessed with a positive attitude think that anything is possible. They look for ways to solve the problems, they see the good in everybody, and they are grateful for all the good things in their lives.
Whether suffering from or blessed with your attitude, this is not something that is put on us from the outside. We are very much responsible for our own attitude. We all start out with a “clean” board but this can get muddied by our experiences in life. As children we are made fun of and even get bullied (欺侮) and rejected, start to experience doubt and lose our self-confidence. If this .continues into adulthood, it can result in a bad attitude in later life.
1、It can be inferred from Paragraph 2 that people are likely to treat others .
A.the way they are treated B.better when they are satisfied
C.worse when they are in trouble D.the way they consider appropriate
2、According to the writer, what affects people’s life attitude?
A.The situation they face. B.The people around them.
C.Their expectations of life. D.The way they view the world.
3、What is the purpose of the writer in writing this passage?
A.To show how to avoid a negative attitude.
B.To show the importance of a positive attitude.
C.To share his positive attitude with his reader.
D.To describe the effects of a negative attitude.
23.(8分)The Today I learned–The New York Times’ fun column always highlights some surprising and interesting facts. In that spirit,The New York Times lists some of the most eye-catching things out of the column and edits them into What I Learned This Year.Following are some facts out of What I Learned in 2016.
The world’s most-used natural resource (apart from water, listed at the second place and air,as the champion) is sand, which consists of extremely small pieces of stone-and it’s disappearing.
A team’s success (at work) is often driven by 3 factors (with the importance from high to low) —its culture, the interpersonal relationship and the IQ or talent of its individuals.
Giraffes have been keeping a secret from most of us for a long time: They’ really four different species, not one. The Greenland Shark lives at least 272 years and it could live as long as 512 years, which makes it the oldest living thing with a backbone(脊椎)on Earth.
More that 70 percent of Americans think Granola Bars (格拉诺拉燕麦棒)are healthy.Interesting, less than 30 percent of nutritionists(营养学家)agree.
Nearly 80 percent of teenagers say they don’t like to eat cereal porridge(燕麦粥)for breakfast, because they have to clean up the bowls after eating it.
It’s myth that closing unused apps on your smartphone will prolong battery life. And turning off Wi-Fi doesn’t help, either.
Annual percentage of highway death had been going down for the last four decades till it last year recorded the largest increase in 50 years.Blame Snapchat and other smarphone apps.
Death from gun-shooting is as enough as from car accidents in the United Stated and as scarce as from lightning strikes in Japan, which owns the reputation of one of the safest countries.

24.(8分) Laughter is part of the universal human vocabulary. All members of the human species understand it. Unlike English or French or Swahili, we don’t have to learn to speak it. We re born with the capacity to laugh.
Very little is known about the specific brain mechanisms responsible for laughter. Contrary to folk wisdom, most laughter is not about humor; it is about relationships. To find out when and why people laugh, I went with several assistants to local malls and recorded what happened just before people laughed. Over a 10-year period, we studied over 2,000 cases of naturally occurring laughter.
We found that most laughter does not necessarily follow jokes. People may laugh after a variety of statements, such as, “Here comes Mary,” “How did you do on the test?” or “Do you have a rubber band?” These certainly aren’t jokes.
We believe laughter evolved from the panting (喘气的) behavior of our ancient ancestors. Today, if we tickle (使发痒) chimps, they don’t laugh. But, instead, they produce a panting sound. That’s the sound of ape laughter, and it’s the root of human laughter.
Apes laugh in the kinds of situations that lead to human laughter, like games that involve chasing. Other animals produce sounds during play, but they are so different from laughter. Rats, for example, produce high sounds during play and when tickled, but these are very different in sound from human laughter.
Laughter is often positive, but it can be negative too. There’s a difference between “laughing with” and “laughing at”. People who laugh at others may be trying to drive them out of the group.
No one has actually counted how much people of different ages laugh, but young children probably laugh the most. At ages 5 and 6 we probably laugh more than at any other times. Adults laugh less than children, probably because they play less.
Work now underway will tell us more about the brain mechanisms behind laughter, how it has evolved, and why we’re so susceptible to tickling.
1、What was the purpose of the decade’s research?
A.To prove that people laugh because of humour.
B.To find out the real reason for people s laughter.
C.To research people s different reaction on jokes.
D.To record conversations among shoppers in malls.
2、What can we learn from the text?
A.People who play more tend to laugh more.
B.Apes produce high sounds when tickled.
C.Scientists know the brain mechanisms responsible for laughter well.
D.The situations in which apes laugh are very different from those in which humans laugh.
3、What does the underlined word “susceptible” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Sensitive. B.Flexible.
C.Addictive. D.Reliable.
4、Which of the following might be the best title for the text?
A.The Impact of Laughter
B.The Meaning of Laughter
C.A Big Mystery: Why Do We Laugh?
D.Laughter: The Most Beautiful Words
25.(10分)Machines might one day replace human laborers in a number of professions, but surely they won't ever replace human artists.Right?
Think again. Not even our artists will be safe from the inevitable machine takeover,if a new development in artificial intelligence by a team of researchers from Rutgers University and Facebook's A.I.lab offers a clue of what's to come. They have designed an A.I.capable of not only producing art,but actually inventing whole new aesthetic styles similar to movements like impressionism or abstract expressionism, reports. The idea, according to researcher Marian Mazzone, was to make art that is "novel, but not too novel."
The model used in this project involved a generator network, which produces the images, and a discriminator network, which "judges" whether it's art.Once the generator learns how to produce work that the distributor recognizes as art,it's given an additional directive: to produce art that doesn't match any known aesthetic styles.
"You want to have something really creative and striking—but at the same time not go too far and make something that isn't aesthetically(美学地)pleasing,"explained Ahmed Elgammal.
The art that was generated by the system was then presented to human judges alongside human-produced art without showing which was which. To the researchers' surprise, the machine-made art scored slightly higher overall than the human-produced art.
Of course, machines can't yet replace the meaning that's infused in works by human artists, but this project shows that artist skill sets certainly seem duplicatable by machines.
What will it take for machines to produc
