In other words, financial institutions are inclined to give priority to people with expatriate assignment or professional English, which accounts for why students of our department attach such importance to studying professional English. )

Two most sophisticated oral work as assignments:
No. 1: A Briefing to yourself;
I am Gui Guoping, a native of Hubei, I am 57 years’ old. In 1953, I was born of teachers’ parents. In 1982, I graduated from Wuhan University, majoring in the English and American languages and literatures. After graduation, (personal, family and educational backgrounds)I have worked for/ been with several employers. Currently, I am with the XXX, a state-owned enterprise(nature of the firm) engaged in manufacture of office equipment(line of business ). I am head of marketing department(position ) directly reporting to (under) CEO of our group company. I supervise a marketing staff of 11(duties and responsibilities ). I want a change in employer because, in a state-owned business one is less likely to put what he has learnt into practice and to attain his career objective owing to its stiff mechanism (reason for job-hopping and aspiration).
*****------A Customized Briefing to A Student of Finance of Wuda:
No.2: About our Wuhan University and our Dept. of Finance
I am a junior student of Finance from Economics and Management School of Wuhan University. Wuhan University is one of China’s most prestigious comprehensive universities directly under the China’s Ministry of Education. It is one of the universities with the longest history in China. It is best known for humanity and social studies and above all, multi-disciplinary advantages. This means students of Wuhan University can make full use of such advantages by taking courses from other schools and departments.. Our Department of Finance is one of the “Top Ten”in China. In addition to running programs from undergraduate up to post-doctorate, it is composed of Finance, Financial Engineering and Mathematical Finance.
Nearly all faculty members have foreign experience, so we are in a position to keep abreast of the latest financial theories and methodologies in the world. Our department attaches importance to both quantitative approach and financial English. In fact financial English is one of our competitive edges. With China’s accession to WTO and economic globalization, foreign financial institutions and professionals are pouring into China. The competition in the job market has become increasingly fierce. In financial industry, the international business places a high premium on a professional’s English. In order to enhance my comparative advantage over competitors, I have been attaching importance to studying of financial English. I hope I will be in a position to handle financial business in professional English.
