On seeing him, the dad shouted , "Why did you take you so much time to come? Don't you know that my son’s life is in danger? It’s your duty to save patients?"
The doctor smiled and said, "I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital and I came the fastest I could after receiving the call...And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I can do my work.”
“Calm down? What if your son is in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now, what will you do?” said the father angrily.
The doctor smiled again and answered," I will say what Job said in the Bible(圣经) --'From dust we came and to dust we return, blessed(保佑) by the name of God'.Doctors cannot prolong lives. Go and pray (祈祷)for your son, we will do our best."
"it’s so easy to give advice when people talk about others’ business.” said the father.
The operation took several hours. After that, the doctor went out happily, "Thank goodness! Your son is saved ! " And without waiting for the father's reply, he carried on his way running. “If you have any question, ask the nurse!"
"Why is he so proud and impatient? He couldn't wait some minutes so that I could ask about my son's situation ?" said the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.
The nurse answered, tears(眼泪) coming down her face, "His son died yesterday in a road accident. He was in the funeral(葬礼) when we called him for your son's operation. And now that he saved your son's life, he left running to finish his son's funeral."

While teens are spending more and more time on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace--- with 22 percent saying that they check their sites more than 10 times a day. They don’t seem to take notice of the long-term(长期的) personal dangers they might create with a click of a mouse. Also, their parents generally have little idea about what their children are up to, recent research has found.
Social networking sites allow members to create pages that often include personal information such as age, address and birth date as well as photos, videos and personal thoughts. When Maxwell Wallace, a graduate of Lowell High School in San Francisco, wanted to know more about his new roommate Tim at Georgetown University this fall, he didn’t just make a phone call. He also went to Facebook. There, Wallace could see some pictures about Tim’s lifestyle, learn about what his interests are, and read Tim’s thoughts and what his friends say about him. It was “ a better look at whom I am going to be living with for the next 8 to 9 months”, he said.
“ If you are not in the same place as the person, it just feels less personal; it’s easier to do mean(恶劣的) things.” Said James Steyer, who is the chief officer of an organization called Common Sense media(数码媒体) into school classrooms. It will cover everything from not using mobile phones at the dinner table to the great danger of posting personal information online.
Parents need some lessons too. It’s “a playground without parental supervision(监督)”, said Dr. Dimitri Christakis at the University of Washington, who found in a study this year that 54 percent of teens show risky behavior(表现)online.
“What worries me most is that kids will give out information that should be kept private(私人的)” said San Francisco parent Michael Wise, the father of three, including two teenage boys. “ People forget that everything they say online is a public postcard.”
The message is simple. Teenagers should think very carefully about the people with whom they are communicating online and the information they are sending to these people.
49. Maxwell Wallace can find out the following about Tim from Facebook EXCEPT his _______.
A hobbies B lifestyle C thoughts D talent
50. From the passage, we can learn James Steyer _________.

C School should watch the student’s activities carefully.

B social networking is a new form of communication
C teachers should tell children to avoid risky online behaviors
D teenagers should be careful when they are communicating online with others
五、阅读表达(满分5分)
We have all heard it: These high school years are the best time of our lives. But are these really the best years we will ever live? Or will we look back on these years with a sense of regret(后悔)? Luckily, here is a list of how to prevent some of the most common regrets:
Get to know people around you
I’m sure one of your greatest regrets could be going to a class reunion(重逢), speaking with someone, and thinking to yourself, “Who are they?” (even after they have introduced themselves). Sure, there are lots of people in your school, but each person has his own stories and personality. It’s impossible to know who you could end up being friends with, so do not take the risk of missing out on a great friendship. Get to know everyone.
Have fun and stay true to yourself
You will probably regret spending every Friday night at home alone(unless that’s just your personality), so go out and have some fun. But don’t have too much fun and you mustn’t break the law. Don’t drink or take part in other illegal(非法的) activities. Stay true to who you are. Don’t change who you are just to make others happy.
Sleep
If you want to be the high school superstar that has a perfect study record, is the star of the sport’s team, has the greatest social life and is the president of the Students’ Union-- you are not going to get any sleep. And in return, you’ll probably not have much fun either. It’s impossible to do everything and be perfect at everything and get sleep at the same time. Choose what is the most important to you and do not stress out(劳累过度) about everything else. Keep a proper balance.
Topic: (53) ____ to prevent high school students from regretting.
Get to know people around you
It’s (54)_______ for people around you to be your friends, so try to get to know them.
Have fun and stay true to yourself
l Go out to take part in some activities. But don’t do anything (55)_____ the law.
